This Independence Day, there’s a whole lot more to celebrate than America’s birthday. The City of Brotherly Love will be celebrating the uniquely American innovative and entrepreneurial spirit you’ll find in every single Philadelphian. Welcome America, Inc. has just announced a new partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal and Live Nation Philadelphia to produce Wawa Welcome America. That’s fireworks worthy in and of itself.
In case you’ve missed out on the 4th of July celebration to attend in Philly, Wawa Welcome America! is an eight-day festival celebrating Philadelphia’s important role in the fight for American independence. The festival is free, featuring a wide range of events showcasing the sounds and sights of Philadelphia, curated for an inclusive, diverse, multicultural, and multigenerational audience.
How exciting is this?
Very. We’ll have to wait until May to check out the full festival schedule. But to build your suspense, you can expect more fireworks, more concerts, more museum days free for Philly residents, more events all over the city, all counting down to the big event: the free July 4th concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with a tribute to The Sound of Philadelphia.
What does this partnership mean?
In order to spread this super-patriotic festival to as many people as possible, Wawa Welcome America! has partnered with Comcast-NBC Universal to help grow the festival’s visibility, and enhance neighborhood community activities. Events will be streamed live on the NBC10 and Telemundo62 websites, mobile apps, and will available on Xfinity On Demand.
“We are thrilled to be the presenting sponsor of Philadelphia’s iconic celebration of America’s independence,” said David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President, Comcast Corporation.
“Through the combined assets of Comcast NBCUniversal, including multiple live broadcasts on NBC10 and Telemundo 62, plus extensive content available on Xfinity On Demand, Philadelphians across the region will be able to experience the festivities on television and online like never before.”
But, to spread that visibility even further, Live Nation Entertainment, a global leader in live entertainment presenting shows to 530 million fans in 37 countries and producer of 700 shows a year, will produce Wawa Welcome America!
The best part? Wawa, Philly’s favorite convenience stop will be hosting this festival all the way through 2017. They’re even going to bring back events like Hoagie Day. Nice.
When is this all happening?
June 27—July 4 you can expect to take in as much American pride as you can handle. There are 500,000 residents and visitors expected to be there, so get ready for one happy, patriotic crowd.
Cue the fireworks.
